Sunderland announced on Wednesday that the club has completed the signing of Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner on a season-long loan deal.
The Denmark international has made almost 100 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 22 goals, while also being loaned out to Birmingham for the 2006-07 campaign where he played under current Black Cats boss Steve Bruce.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Nicklas previously. I had him as an 18-year-old and he helped clinch promotion for Birmingham,” Bruce said.
“He’s an outstanding talent and is a big, physical presence who will lead the line magnificently for us.”
The 23-year-old’s international career includes 12 goals in 38 appearances for Denmark.
