5 Picks To Click For 10-06-2006

We looked at another quality week last week, going 4-1. Ladies and gentlemen, we are moving up the ladder to a great 10-5 mark thus far. If we stick with the bread and butter (non-top 25 teams), it appears as if we're headed for another quality week.

Northwestern at Wisconsin

WagerWeb.com line: Wisconsin by 20.5

Put aside the 7-2 ATS mark Northwestern has had against the Badgers in the last nine meetings. This season has been totally different with all the events that have occurred in that program. This season Wisconsin is 3-0-1 ATS, while Northwestern has covered just once (1-3-1). Last week the Badgers jumped out to a 52-0 lead against Indiana after three quarters. Look for some of the same against a Northwestern squad that will struggle to win one Big Ten game this year.

Pick: Wisconsin

Connecticut at South Florida

WagerWeb.com line: USF 6.5

The Bulls have had 9 days to prepare for the Huskies after narrowly missing an upset over a ranked Rutgers team last week. QB Matt Grothe threw for a TD and ran for two more vs. the Scarlet Knights, and look for him to have a big game at home against Connecticut, which upset USF last year. If you can only put up 14 points against Indiana, your offense is considered weak. Look for the Bulls to win by two scores and get you some money.

Pick: USF

UNI at Miami (Ohio)

WagerWeb.com line: UNI by 14

UNI is 2-0 ATS in the last two meetings when the Red Hawks had a decent team. Now, Miami is just a shadow of what a college football team should be. Sitting at 0-5, this team has lost to some bad clubs: Syracuse, Northwestern, Cincinnati and Kent State! (need I say more). Since 1992, UNI is 27-12 ATS in Weeks 5-9. Garrett Wolfe had a monster week last week (353 yards and 3 TDs) and will eat up a Miami team that allows 184 yards per game on the ground.

Pick: UNI

Oklahoma State at Kansas State

WagerWeb.com line: OSU by 2.5

Oklahoma State benefited from an easy, easy, easy early schedule. The Cowboys were put in their place by Houston and have had a pair of weeks to sit on that. Kansas State has a stout defense, only allowing 89.6 yards on the ground and 280 total yards per game. All four games the Wildcats have played have gone under. Look for Coach Ron Prince's squad to bounce back from the Baylor loss at home. And besides, Kansas State is 3-1 ATS in the past 4 against the Cowboys.

Pick: Kansas State

Pittsburgh at Syracuse

WagerWeb.com line: Pitt by 7

Pitt comes off a thrashing of Toledo where both sides of the ball played great in a 45-3 victory. Don't buy into the Syracuse hype of winning three in a row; the Orange are still a bad team winning against worse opponents. Tyler Palko is a great senior leader who leads the nation in passing efficiency. The Orange are 5-0 ATS this year, but good things have to come to an end.

Pick: Pitt

Last Week:
4-1
Overall: 10-5
