Mack Brown didn't know if he was on the team a year ago.

The kid hadn't sniffed the hash marks of a real college game.

Officially, Ryan Bailey was the unlikeliest of heroes after his 22-yard kick with 23 seconds remaining defeated Nebraska 22-20 on Saturday.

"I had no idea something like this would happen," Bailey told the Associated Press. "I was here along for the ride."

The extent of information in his personal bio stated his favorite
superhero was none other than Superman.

Columnists, beat writers and sports reporters flocked to the popular Internet site MySpace.com to see if Bailey had a profile to gather more information about him.

Bailey's peers have gone to his Facebook.com profile and sent him countless messages congratulating him for his kick.

A field goal that was just two yards longer than an extra-point turned the walk-on from no-name kicker to Longhorns legend.

BCS Breakdown: The Big 12's likely representative in the BCS, Texas, jumped from No. 9 to No. 7 in the standings. The move jumped Brown's team ahead of an undefeated Louisville squad and Notre Dame. The computers adjusted Texas from No. 15 to No. 13 after the Horns beat a ranked opponent on the road. The other four Big 12 teams in the BCS Top 25, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas A&M and Nebraska, rank 19, 20, 21 and 22, respectively.

The Collapse Of  Kansas: Don't worry Jayhawks fans, basketball season is almost here. The football team led Baylor 35-17 heading into the fourth quarter Saturday, and the Bears rallied to a 36-35 home victory. Credit Shawn Bell -- he threw three touchdown passes in the final 9:22 to send the Bears to victory. Bell has led Baylor to a 3-1 Big 12 record and has thrown 11 touchdowns in four games. Baylor's passing offense, averaging 299 yards per game, is ranked sixth in the nation.

No A.D -No Problem: Bob Stoops didn't stray from his preseason game plan in his 24-3 victory over Colorado. Allen Patrick rushed the ball 35 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. Maybe not Adrian Peterson-type numbers, but it was a Peterson-like amount of carries. "When I was going out there on the field, I just had my mind-set to go out there and give punishment, to let them know I'm on the field, to let me go out there and get my name known," Patrick told the Associated Press. The Sooners' first road test without Peterson occurs this week when they go on the road to Missouri, with the Tigers 2.5-point favorites on WagerWeb.com.

A Look Ahead: Texas has its final big road test of the season against Texas Tech, with the Longhorns -12 on WagerWeb.com. ... Nebraska (-5.5) will try to bounce back from its tough loss to Texas by hosting Oklahoma State. The Cowboys' Bobby Reid is the top-rated quarterback in the conference. ... Baylor can spoil Texas A&M's season with a win at home (A&M -5).  ... Iowa State looks for its conference win, on the road against Kansas State (KSU -5). ... Colorado takes on Kansas (-2) in a battle of bottom teams in the Big 12 North.
