Kansas at Missouri
WagerWeb.com Line: Missouri -7
Missouri's fast start at the beginning of the season has been figured out by even the
worst of teams ... see Iowa State. The success of Missouri starts with its QB, Chase
Daniel, who has been awful as of late: five interceptions compared to three interceptions
in the past three losses. On the other hand, Kansas is on a three-game winning streak and
has had success on the ground with RB Jon Cornish. Last week, Cornish ran for 201 yards
and a pair of scores in a big win over rival Kansas State. The Jayhawks have been an
underdog the past two meetings between the schools and have won them both SU and by at
least 10 points.
Pick: Kansas
Ohio at Miami (Ohio)
WagerWeb.com Line: Ohio -3
Unless I'm missing something, Ohio has won six in a row and is cruising through
its schedule to the MAC title game on Nov. 30. On the other hand, Miami of Ohio is an
atrocious 2-9 SU this season with no existent home-field advantage seeing as it hasn't won
a home-game all year. Ohio's strength of running the ball (148.1 YPG) plays directly into
Miami of Ohio's weakness, rush defense (162.3 YPG). Miami of Ohio has won 12 of the past
14 meetings, but in all those years it had the superior talent. This is the year for the
Bobcats (this game is on Friday).
Pick: Ohio
North Carolina at Duke
WagerWeb.com Line: UNC -7
No, it's not Tobacco Road's basketball rivalry game that we're looking to make
money on, but the game on the gridiron. The Tar Heels have made leaps and bounds over the
past two weeks on the defensive side of the ball. Two weeks ago the Tar Heels held Georgia
Tech to seven points, and they broke their losing streak just last week with a 23-9 SU
upset victory over NC State. Blue Devils players have been waiting for this dreaded season
to end (0-11 SU). Last time North Carolina visited Duke, the Heels came out 40-17 victors.
Look for some of the same Saturday.
Pick: North Carolina
SMU at Rice
WagerWeb.com Line: pick'em
The Rice Owls have quietly become a covering machine. They've won and covered the
last five games and six of the last seven. Both teams sit at the six-win mark and are
eying bowl bids. Rice hasn't been to a bowl since 1961. Rice may have a tough time running
the ball against SMU (C-USA's No. 1 rush defense), but it shouldn't have a problem going
to their Biletnikoff finalist WR Jarrett Dillard. Rice at home should continue its hot
play and go bowling.
Pick: Rice
Cincinnati at Connecticut
WagerWeb.com Line: Cincy -4.5
It seems this game is too good to be true as well. The Bearcats finally got over
their hump and defeated a top 10 team last week. QB Dustin Grotza missed that game, and
Nick Davila filled in with over 275 yards passing, but Grotza is available to play this
week. Connecticut followed its huge win against Pittsburgh with a loss straight-up to
Syracuse. Don't mess with success, either, as Cincinnati is 7-0-1 ATS in the last eight
games. Look for a monster win from the Bearcats to get them above .500 on the season.
Pick: Cincy
