With the NFL season so close you
can taste, it, I felt now is the perfect time to start talking about great ways to make
some money this season. Of course, everyone knows how to make a bet on your favorite team
or to place a wager on how many points will be scored. But in today's day and age of
"you can bet on anything," there are many other ways to wager on your
favorite team and on the NFL where the odds can really be in your favor. Today, I will
start my preview of NFL divisions and the teams within them and their odds to win their
division and the over/under on regular season wins.
NFC North
Chicago-(Odds To Win The Division)-$185 (Over/Under Season Wins)-9.5 Wins
The Bears will look to continue to grow after last season's big leap into the playoffs. If
brittle QB Rex Grossman can stay healthy, the Bears are the favorite to win the division,
but if he goes down yet again, then it is all up in the air. The Bears have a great
defense and a coach in Lovie Smith who commands and gets respect from his team.
DTM Predicted Wins: 9
Minnesota +$305 (8 Wins)
In simple terms, the Vikes are a mess. No more Moss, no more Culpepper, no more
wins. Granted, the Vikings' whole team wasn't based up two players , but those two were so
important. The Vikings have a lot of great young talent, but are at least a few years away
from being a serious contender. This will be a year of adjusting to and leaning from new
head coach Brad Childress
DTM Predicted Wins : 7
Detroit +$645 (7 Wins)
Well, the Lions are not much less than a mess than Minnesota, but Detroit really does have
a ton of talent on both sides of the ball and truly just needs more leadership from the
players and the coaching staff, and they got none in recent years. If the Lions buy into
new head coach Rod Marinelli's system and either Jon Kitna or Josh McCown can be
serviceable at QB, the Lions could turn some heads this year.
DTM Predicted Wins: 8
Green Bay- +$845 (6.5 Wins)
The official Brett Favre Magical Mystery Goodbye Tour has been underway since he announced
he was coming back to Green Bay for one more year. The question is, Will Favre finish the
season in Wisconsin? Whether he does or not, the Packers are horrible and are without a
doubt in rebuilding mode, whether they want to admit it or not. Favre will give the home
fans some more magic and maybe even some more historic comeback wins, but even the future
Hall of Famer playing his best season would not be enough for this team that has more
holes than the United States border.
DTM Predicted Wins: 6
AFC North
Pittsburgh -$145 (10 Wins)
The defending champs come in to 2006 looking primed and ready to repeat ... if their QB
stays off motorcycles. The Steelers do lose future Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis, but his
role was diminishing in recent years. The defense looks to be just as good, if not better,
and if Big Ben stays healthy, on and off the field, there is no reason to say they don't
have a great shot of winning the championship again.
DTM Predicted Wins: 10
Cincinnati +$275 (8.5 Wins)
The Bengals are one of the most exciting teams in the league and have slowly worked their
way into a team that truly must be looked at as a contender. With Carson Palmer looking
like he will be ready for opening day, the sky is the limit for the Bengals. Marvin Lewis
seems to know how to handle this team, and in return the players seem to really respect
him and believe in his system. That is a combination not seen that often in today's NFL
and one that seems to be the only way to win a championship.
DTM Predicted Wins: 10
Baltimore +$365 (8.5 Wins)
The Ravens struggled most of last year with injuries, a horrible offense and a lack of
motivation. This year should be a 180-degree turnaround. Steve McNair comes in to play QB,
and the offense has tremendous depth and talent. We all know how dominating this defense
can be, but last year that unit fell a few steps back. Look for that defense to jump two
steps forward this season as the Ravens will work their way back toward contention.
DTM Predicted Wins: 8
Cleveland +$1300 (6.5 Wins)
The Browns are still a long way away from being a team to watch, but I like what Romeo
Crennel is doing in C-Town, and I think that if some of their young talent develops in the
next couple of years, by playing good football and learning from bad football this season,
the Browns might not be as far away as many think. There will be some tough losses this
year, but I think the Browns will also turn some heads with an upset or two as well.
DTM Predicted Wins: 6
