NFL Week 6 Spread Picks
By Chris Goudeyf

Week 5 was my best week yet, and now that we're into the heart of the season I think I have a good idea about where teams fall in the power rankings. Hopefully the good run continues!

I'm going to base all my results on the assumption I'm betting to win $100 with a -110 vig (meaning you have to bet $110 to win $100) and buying on/off the 3 and 7 (and occasionally the 10) for -130 when necessary. On to my picks for Week 6 (all WagerWeb.com lines as of Friday afternoon):

Cincinnati -5 at Tampa Bay

Tampa played New Orleans very tough last week, and as you know home dogs are my favorite subset. My pick: TAMPA BAY

Tennessee +10.5 at Washington

The Titans almost pulled the upset of the century against Indy last week by completely abandoning the passing game and trying to run the ball down the Colts' throats. My guess is they try it again this week and keep it close enough to cover. My pick: TENNESSEE

Houston +13 at Dallas

I just think this is too many points to give. Houston's offense has been decent; it's been the Texans' defense that's been the problem. I think the Texans can score enough points to keep this one respectable. My pick: HOUSTON

Buffalo -1.5 at Detroit

I've been picking Detroit most weeks, and I will again this week. There is simply too much talent on this team for the Lions to continue to lose every week. Buffalo is not a good road team, and I think this is the week for Detroit. My pick: DETROIT

Seattle -3 at St. Louis

I don't get this line, especially with Shaun Alexander still out. The Rams are getting no respect, and I'll buy to +3.5 to be safe, but I don't think I'll need it as the Rams win outright. My pick: ST. LOUIS

NY Giants +3 at Atlanta

This is another game where I think the number is probably good. The G-Men dismantled a good Redskins team last week, and I think they continue their good play another week. I like the Falcons and think they are a good team, but I'll buy to +3.5 and take Eli, Tiki and the gang. My pick: NY GIANTS

Philadelphia -3 at New Orleans

Yes, the Saints are 4-1, but I'm still not a believer. They should have lost at home to a rookie QB last week, and Mr. McNabb is no rookie QB. Buy to -2.5. My pick: PHILADELPHIA

Carolina +3 at Baltimore

The oddsmakers did a pretty good job on almost all of the games this week in my opinion. This one is going to be very low scoring, and in that case I'll take the team getting the points. Buy to +3.5. My pick: CAROLINA

Miami +2 at NY Jets

The Jets got destroyed last week, so they'll be fired up and I can't bet on Joey Harrington on the road. My pick: NY JETS

San Diego -10 at San Francisco

This should be a let down week for the Chargers after their big win against Pittsburgh last week. San Diego's defense is becoming a monster, but it's hard to give this many points to a team not named Oakland, Tennessee or Houston. San Fran isn't a good team yet, but the Niners aren't horrible anymore, either. My pick: SAN FRANCISCO

Kansas City +6.5 at Pittsburgh

The Steelers have been so bad this year, and the Chiefs are coming off a big road win in Arizona. Pittsburgh is the hungry, angry team, and I think the Steelers take it out on KC this week. My pick: PITTSBURGH

Oakland +14.5 at Denver

There's no way I would touch this game as a bettor, but as I've said I'm picking them all. I also said I'm picking against Oakland every week until they show anything and after losing by 14 to the 49ers on the road, I'll go against them again. My pick: DENVER

Chicago -10.5 at Arizona

This is another one I wouldn't bet, but a Monday night home dog by this many points is a very good subset. I know the Bears are the best team in the league right now, but being a winning bettor is all about knowing situations and you can't get a much better one than this. The Bears are great, but they aren't going to win by 30+ points every week, especially on the road. My pick: ARIZONA

Week 5 results: 8-4-2, +$340

Season to date: 40-32-2, +$260
